As the end of the season draws to a close the annual Men's Captain v Chairman challenge took place on Saturday 18th November. With teams skilfully drawn and matched by the Captain or the Chairman from those entered for the competition, the challengeis played out to the end and is always one for "bragging" rights and has been won by the Chairman's team for the last few years.
After the first match between Captain Jeremy and Chairman Ian and their partners it was honours even and as teams finished and posted scores it was very much "nip and tuck" with close matches going both ways but with 5 matches left out on the course the Captain had begun to take out what could have been an unassailable lead of 11up. The Chairman's team were buoyed, however, with a 9 up win by Messrs' Crawford and Bott (jnr) restoring the difference back to 2 up. With only 1 game left to complete the scores had been restored to all square.
A dilemma ensued as due to 1 member of the final Chairman's pairing phoned in sick on the morning leaving Bott (snr) to hold of the Captains final pairing. Despite various discussions on how, and even if, to treat the final score the three had agreed an arbitrary treatment of handicaps for the match and it was decided to let the final score count. Unfortunately this resulted in a win for the Captain and the trophy was presented by the Chairman, along with the aforementioned "Bragging Rights" - until next year!
The Captain and Chairman both thanked all who took part and treated them to a "Snifter" of malt, whiskey or port.

With a significant amount of snow and ice still covering around 70% of the course and the temperatures not forecast high enough for a thaw the decision has been made to keep the course closed this weekend. The next inspection will be made on Monday morning
